Or GameCube and N64 games for that matter. While Wii games don't feel very different from Switch games, the same could be said for Wii and GameCube games. It's as old nowadays as the Super Nintendo was back then, and that was definitely retro by that point. The Wii can't even output true widescreen resolutions, it can only do anamorphic 640x480, hence why widescreen mode usually looks so blurry compared to Xbox games.

In fact it's weaker than the original Xbox, lacking many of its features like 720p support, 5.1 digital surround sound, and a hard drive.

The 3DS, which is basically a portable Wii, was getting AAA-exclusives up until 2018, so those hardware limitations still feel quite modern to many people. While much weaker than other 7th gen consoles, Nintendo was optimizing its games around the Wii's hardware limitations for a very long time, up until 2011.Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Sonic Colors, and Kirby's Return to Dream Land don't feel much different than their Switch counterparts. Many Wii games still feel modern, and haven't aged a day.Contra Rebirth is a little on the short side with just five levels, but they are a blast while thy last. You have unlimited continues, but you'll have to restart from the beginning of your current stage. An "easy" mode has been added, though, that lets you hold onto your weapons when you bite the bullet. This is still a very difficult game, you still lose your weapons when you die, and being pushed off screen will still result in your demise. Watch the boys deal some damage to the Level 2 Mid Boss. It would have been nice to see some new weapons, though. The usual weapons are here (spread gun, homing missile, laser), and you can hold two at a time and switch between them on the fly.

You'll also find the familiar tunes have been remixed, but are still presented in a chiptunes style. The walled fortress that served as the boss fight in the first level of the original Contra is back, only this time you get to knock over the fortress and use it as a bridge to the next area. Rebirth does a great job of foreshadowing your boss battles, and you'll often encounter these giants several times during a level before the final showdown. Bosses have always been an important part of Contra games, and they are in rare form here.

Contra Rebirth rarely gives you a moment to catch your breath. Oh, and enemy soldiers are riding the missiles, firing at you. One of my favorites finds Bill dodging incoming missiles while riding atop a moving truck AND a mechanical camel is chasing you. There are many great, ridiculous action sequences in this game.
